A pond in a bucket
Water is important for both land- and water-based wildlife. Introducing water to your garden can be as simple as adding a bird-bath...but don't worry if you are tight on space - a pond in a bucket can be just as effective (see below - picture taken in this week's glorious hot weather, which is why it's looking a bit dry!) A pond with lots of native plant life is a great breeding habitat for a range of species such as frogs, newts and dragonflies. The birds that visit your bird-bath also eat the insects in your garden, and help to keep ecosystems healthy.
